I’m excited to share my latest oil painting, "Depth of an Iris." Measuring 11 by 14 inches, this piece centers on a purple, blue-toned flower with sharply defined petals, set against a warm orange background that brings the image into clear focus. I aimed to capture the natural folds and texture of the iris through careful brushwork and shading, creating a sense of depth and dimension. The contrast between the cool hues of the flower and the vibrant background drew directly from the irises growing in my yard. This work also reflects a more abstract approach to flower painting, allowing me to explore form and color in new ways while keeping the composition grounded and inviting.
